You all know that I’m not a shopper. You also know that my husband loves to shop. His favorite color is new. His many purchases are usually greeted by eye rolls and a “whatever” from me. He works hard for his money and he can waste it on what he wants, he just shouldn’t expect me to get excited about it. When it comes to his purchases we have sort of a don’t ask don’t tell policy. It keeps the peace and I do so love the peace. But every now and then he actually brings something home that doesn’t need to be programmed, backed up, plugged in, or bounced off a satellite. That’s when I’m intrigued. The two items above are things that he brought home specifically for me, and things that now I can’t live without. Thank goodness my husband is an avid consumer, otherwise I’d have never known these lovely products.
#1 - Purex 3 in 1 Laundry Sheets….oh me, oh my. Ladies, you need these. They come in a handy plastic case that snaps shut, and each sheet has detergent, fabric softener and anti-static in it. You just toss a sheet into your washer and pull it out with the clothes and toss them in the dryer. No jugs to heft, no pouring, no separate liquids to add. It’s fabulous. It smells good, too! Just one little case on your laundry shelf instead of all those plastic bottles, so it’s even good for the environment. Once you use up all of the sheets you simply buy a another pack of the sheets, not a new case. The original purchase with the case and the sheets was about $7.00, less than the cost of detergent and fabric softener. The replacement packs are about $4.99, a noticeable savings. There’s no waste or spilling and I’m just crazy about ‘em. It makes life neater, easier, and cheaper - what’s not to love?
#2 - Neutrogena Light Sesame Body Oil…..can’t live without it. Well, I could but life wouldn’t be nearly as nice. It’s not even about having soft skin or the fresh scent, it’s the BEST thing I’ve found for keeping bugs away. Seriously. Actually, Mickey found it. Apparently he was chatting with a colleague and somehow the conversation took a few twists and turns and Mickey mentioned that his wife is so very sweet that every bug in a thirty mile radius stops by just for a bite. That’s probably not actually how the conversation went, but that’s how I prefer to remember it. All I know is that Mickey and I can go into the back yard together and I will come in with twenty bites and he says “What bugs?” It’s not because of perfumes or lotions or other stuff, I forgo those during bug season - I guess I just have tasty flesh. Anyway, that colleague assured Mickey that he was an insect target as well and that once he started using this stuff they left him alone. My dear husband purchased a bottle for me (about $8.00 for a large bottle) and I swear that bugs swerve around me now. I can even enjoy hours outside at dusk, when I used to be a bug buffett - and come inside bite-free. It’s such a relief. The added bonuses of soft, glowing skin and a lovely scent make this stuff just more wonderful than I can stand. The mosquitoes don’t like it, but I love it.
So there you have it - besides raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, these are a few of my favorite things. Drop me a line and tell me about yours!
